MONSTER ATTRACTION
Looe’s new resident has a forked tail, gleaming teeth and is best seen after dark... but there’s no need to be alarmed: she is the town’s festive sea monster, Muirin.
Harbour chief executive Tina
Hicks said: ‘This project proves what fantastic results can be achieved when a community works together.
The funds for Muirin were raised by a number of events throughout the year. The project also received sponsorship from
Looe Music Festival, Looe Harbour Commissioners, Looe Festivals Committee and the Cornish Times.
Artist Hannah Jones, and two of our commissioners, Mike Darlington and Paul Greenwood,
then worked to turn our idea into reality. We have also managed to light the northern arches of the bridge from the funds raised.’
A naming competition was won by Vicky Tompson.
