Supermarket scheme benefits charities

Customers of a Looe supermarket have supported their local youth football players – to the tune of almost £2,600.

For the past six months, Co-op members shopping in Looe have been able to nominate one of three community groups

to receive one per cent from own-brand purchases.

Looe Town Football Club chairman Duncan Sweeney and fundraising chairman Lucy Taylor were delighted to receive a cheque for £2,592 from Daniel Jerrom and Tanya Fox from the East Looe Co-op,

The cash will be put towards an upgrade to changing facilities at the club.

‘The Co-op’s scheme has been amazing and we’ve been encouraging all of our parents

and supporters to nominate us as their chosen group,’ said Duncan and Lucy.

‘It’s easy to think that the Co- op are just another big high street chain but this shows that they really are part of the local community.’
