Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) have taken a major step to expand their reach in the region by forging a partnership with the prolific news website Birmingham Updates.
Birmingham Updates is a
news, travel and local interest website, which was founded by Luke Addis during the riots in August 2011 with the main aim of dispelling rumours during the disorder in Birmingham. Since then it has grown
organically and it now claims to be the most engaged news source in the West Midlands thanks to breaking and factual updates that are read by hundreds of thousands of people every day. In December 2015, Luke co-
founded Updates Media Ltd, which is the parent company behind Birmingham, Coventry and London Updates. Today, he runs UM with managing director Oli Hills and marketing executive Steph Ko. Chamber members can also
now expect to see Chamber content on the Birmingham Updates Facebook and Twitter channels on a monthly basis. Katrina Cooke, marketing
and communications director at the GBCC, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Updates as we looked to spread our mission to connect, support and grow local businesses across Greater Birmingham and we see their website as a perfect platform for doing this.”

The Birmingham office of Mazars, the international accountancy and advisory firm, has welcomed 16 trainees as part of the firm’s 2017 UK intake. They number among 195 trainees recruited
nationally, drawn from 25 countries. Birmingham office managing partner Lee Cartwright said: “On behalf of our 1,800 colleagues in the UK, I offer a warm welcome to our new trainees across the business. “Each will have a fantastic opportunity to pursue a successful and fulfilling career path, including
international assignments, and the chance to work with a truly diverse mix of clients. “I am sure that our new trainees will be valuable
assets to the teams they join, and to our clients, and make their time with Mazars count.” The new joiners, from school leavers to graduates
and those on industrial placements, will be working across a range of service lines including audit, tax, outsourcing, financial planning, consulting, forensic and investigation services, employee benefits and actuarial.
Pawfect Dogsense, a leading dog training and behaviour company, has become a non-profit business. The newly-formed community
interest company has achieved great success over the past six years as a sole trading enterprise. The organisation was founded in
2011 by Hannah Molloy, previously a Dogs Trust training and behavioural advisor. Pawfect Dogsense runs dog training and behavioural classes in public parks, as well as providing bespoke sessions for private clients. The firm also hosts education
seminars and workshops for owners and animal professionals. Hannah Molloy said: “Pawfect Dogsense aims to put dog education back into the heart of the community, making it easier than ever before to access top quality low price training advice. “We are a well-established brand
that helped over 2,000 dogs in the West Midlands last year.
