18 CHAMBERLINK October 2017 Accreditation for health provider
BHSF OH has received the seal of approval from the Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Service (SEQOHS) scheme. The Birmingham-based occupational health
provider has been accredited by the professionally-led scheme, which is recognised as the ‘gold standard’ assessment in the OH sector. SEQOHS, which is managed by the
Royal College of Physicians, is about setting, maintaining and raising standards in OH services. To become accredited, companies must demonstrate commitment to achieving high
standards and excellent service across the board. Over the last 18 months, BHSF OH has worked
hard to develop a robust framework of clinical standard operating procedures (SOPs) which underpin the high level of quality that sits at the heart of its service delivery. Sue Burke (pictured), clinical director at
BHSF OH, said: “Obtaining SEQOHS has been our goal for the past 18 months. “BHSF OH has grown quickly and is
made from eight acquired companies. This accreditation was essential to confirm that
high standards are being met across the whole organisation.”
Birmingham Improv Fest returns for second outing
Birmingham Improv Festival is returning for a side-splitting week of completely improvised plays, musicals, songs, drama, and cabaret. The festival will once again take place at the Blue Orange Theatre in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter from 23 to 29 October. The seven-day festival features the
triumphant return of the West End’s Olivier award-winning ‘The Improvised Musical’, which enjoyed a sell-out show at last year’s festival, award-winning improv group The MayDays direct from the Edinburgh Fringe, the UK’s first B.A.M.E. (Black and Ethnic Minority) improv troupe Jumprov.
‘I’m excited that this year’s offering will be bigger, better and Brummier’
The Committee, one of London’s hottest improv
troupes, comedy improviser Phil Lunn and the UK’s original all-female long-form musical improv team Waiting for the Call. This year’s festival offers a programme of high
energy performances from the best troupes on the improv circuit bringing quick-fire comedy, brand new Shakespeare, movie adventure, made-up Charles Dickens, short-form games, musical comedy and tales and even freestyle rapping. Running alongside the main stage performances
will be a series of Improv Workshops offering adults and children the chance to work with practitioners and performers. This provides a unique opportunity

to learn all about improv and to have a go at this ever-growing art form. The 2017 festival also sees the addition
of improv performances especially for children providing a fun and interactive experience to be shared with all the family during half-term. Festival director Jon Trevor (pictured),
founder of Birmingham-based Box Of Frogs, said: “Following last year’s success I
am absolutely thrilled to be bringing the Birmingham Improv Festival back to the city this October. “Birmingham audiences really got behind the
festival last year with sell-out performances and because of that I’m excited that this year’s offering will be bigger, better and Brummier. “We’ve got an incredible 24 companies and solo
artists performing 21 shows over seven days. “I’m particularly delighted to welcome no less than
nine incredibly talented Birmingham-based companies who are putting the city on the improv map showcasing the enormous and growing popularity of Improvisation right here in the Midlands.” Tickets are on sale now and are priced from £6 to
£15. Concessions are available from £5. Special discounted tickets and weekend tickets are available for multiple shows subject to availability. Tickets are available online at
