music, when it hits you, you feel no pain,” is a lyrical quote by Bob Marley. My life just crossed over a certain thresh- old when my Mother, Molly Black, passed away unexpectedly on Labor Day. She celebrated her birthday

mer surrounded by family. We gathered together again, just two months later, as she passed away peace- fully in the hospital. My love of music began as a
child growing up in a household that encouraged putting favorite record albums on the stereo and dancing around the living room. My Mom particularly, loved the
music of Frank Sinatra. My niece asked me if there was a song she thought my Mom would like played as we stood around her. I suggested, My Way, by Sinatra as a fi tting farewell. T e song, in its own way, is about living life to the fullest, and that is what my Mom did until the very end. Lit- erally, the very last text message I got from her reads, “Finally had time to peruse the Upbeat Times! Lots of good articles, espe- cially yours!” T anks Mom! She
