“Cirque de Napa - Celebrating the Power of Age” The Punitentiary #1

BIG FALL GUIDE 2017 ~ EVENTS, ENTERTAINMENT, FOOD AND More! by Tom Fuller of Fuller & Sander Communications, Inc. • tom@fullerandsander.com

Napa, CA. ~ Share the Care’s premiere fundraising event for Napa Valley seniors, “Cirque de Napa - Celebrating the Power of Age,” will be held at

Chardonnay Hall at the Napa Valley Expo on Saturday, Oct 14 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Congressman Mike Thompson is honorary chair of the event

supporting Share the Care Napa Valley which focuses on helping older people and their families cope with the stresses of chronic illness, frailty and age. In Napa County, about 6,000 people over the age of 65 live alone. Of these, about half live on income of less than $20,000 a year. The minimum basic expenses of a single renter, living alone, are close to $25,000 a year, resulting in a lot of people coming up short every year. “Many seniors in the Napa Valley live on a fi xed income and struggle to get by as the cost of living keeps going up,” said Thompson. “We’ve seen dramatic increases in rents, utilities,

basic necessities. At the same time,

Americans

groceries and other are living

longer, many of them with se-

rious health conditions requir- ing treatment and medication. All these expenses can make it nearly impossible for countless seniors to get by. We have to do something to address their eco- nomic insecurity.” Emceed by Barry Martin,

Cirque de Napa will feature over 50 vendors offering ser- vices for seniors, great food and refreshments, and enter- tainment throughout the event featuring Betty Buttons the Clown, Wine Country Aerial- ists, The Bubble Show, Bleed- ing Heart Dancers, Wild Cat Adventures, Napa Valley Har- monizers and Boots and Belles. Tickets to Cirque de Napa are $5/pp, $3/pp age 60+, and are available in advance or at the door. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit www.napavalleysharethecare. com, or call 707-492-3198.
