The Follett Trophy Thanks to the generosity of the Arts Council England and the Victoria and Albert Museum Purchase Grant Fund, we were recently able to acquire ‘The Follett Trophy’ which was presented

The Follett Trophy (Bonhams).

Update

Second Cyclecar Handicap second place trophy (Bonhams).

to the contestant who achieved fourth place in the 1935 BRDC 500 Miles Race. On this occasion, it was won by Anthony Patrick Hamilton who was driving an Alfa Romeo with R Gibson. Hamilton ran a garage on the Hog’s Back, using the profits to support his racing activities. This was a rare opportunity to secure a 500 Miles Race trophy for the collection. We were particularly pleased to obtain it because many of Brooklands’ most famous drivers took part in this race, including John Cobb who came first in the Napier- Railton.

BARC Second Cyclecar Handicap trophy We were very pleased to add this diminutive trophy to our collection. Awarded to B Haywood in a Singer for sec- ond place in this 1913 August Bank Holiday race, it helps to demonstrate the range of machines that raced at

Brooklands. Its early date also makes it an exciting acquisition.

Original technical drawing of the front elevation of a Vimy MkII We are extremely grateful to Mrs Alison Findlay for her generous donation of an original technical drawing of the front elevation of a Vickers Vimy. Given the age of the drawing it is in remarkably good condition. This is a very valuable addition to our technical archive relating to early aircraft. Abigail Wilson

Steve Trodd and his staff also gave the 1930s ERA Shed similar treatment which included restoring the pre-war sign-writing on both sides of the main doors. Priority areas of both buildings will be tackled as soon as more funds are available. Also completed before 16th June was the
