Saltring. Second place went to Mr A Simpson’s Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. Ian Porter’s Austin Healey 3000 was third. The Allan Goddard Trophy for best MG was won by Mr A Malthouse’s A and the Peter Clark Trophy for best Jaguar went to Mr D Keen’s MKIV. Period costume winner was Carole Mellis and ‘best white overalls’ were John Watson’s. Many thanks go to the Concours Judges Ian Kendall and Dave Kilner. Unfortunately Dave passed away a few weeks later following a long illness. The awards were presented by Mrs Mary Clark, Mrs J Goddard and Danny Byrne. Danny Byrne and Chris Bass

before the event all conspired to limit Bertie’s aspirations to the moral victory he undoubtedly achieved. As well as supporting the event, which raised money for the Oasis Children’s Charity, the Mayor’s chosen charity for her year in office, Bertie made sure that all spectators were suitably entertained for the entirety of the race.

Do you know what would happen if a child or animal were to run in front of the car and there was little or no time to brake and not much space to take avoiding action? How does a car behave with over-steer or under-steer? Can you reverse a car through a slalom without hitting cones? All these and other adrenaline-inducing exercises can be experienced in one day of thrills and excitement – without wrecking your own car!

Speed Skills is run and taught by ex-Hendon- trained Advanced Police Driving Instructors and the events are based on their experience and knowledge of both advanced on-road and anti-hi-jack driver training. Brooklands Trust Members have booked two separate training days on Saturdays 14th and 21st April. The course is close to Hemel Hempstead, about 40 minutes from the Museum.
