Youth Spotlight: Faith Farris

Faith Farris is a 13-year-old 8th grader at Grace Christian Acad- emy, Weatherford, TX. She lives in Midway, TX, and competes in cutting horse events in the National Cutting Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Youth As- sociation.

Why horses? When I was 5,

I saw my dad working a cutting horse and wanted to try it. I’ve been hooked ever since.

Moment you will always

remember? Winning the 2017 AQHYA World Championship in cutting!

Favorite horse? Quite the Fat

Cat. We call him Ben. Favorite event? Cutting, of

course!

Role model(s)? My parents. Dad is very supportive, and no mat- ter how well or how badly I do, he is still there for me and ready for the next show. My mom is my best cheerleader. I hope I can be as sup- portive for my kids one day.

Future plans with horses? I plan to continue cutting. I have a 3-year-old that I want start showing in aged events.

Career path you are consid-

ering? I don’t know yet. I think it’s too early to decide.

Advice you’d like to give others with horses? Have fun! w
