write a 200-800 word story and they could not only win £250 of books from Book People for them and for their school – but if they’re selected as the overall winner, they will see their story brought to life in their very own book, illustrated by Alison Brown and published by Little Tiger Press. The judging panel of celebrity parents, headed this year by TV star Claudia Winkleman (pictured), alongside publishing experts will choose one winner for each age category, as well as the overall winner.
Strictly presenter Claudia said: “I’m delighted to be involved in Book People’s fantastic Bedtime Story competition. I have always made a special effort to instil a love of books in my children, and encourage their imagination and creativity through reading and writing. This competition is a brilliant chance for children to let their imaginations run wild and immerse themselves in a fun and exciting project.” • Book People’s Bedtime Story Competition is now live with entries open until 2nd October 2017. Tonbridge Junior Parkrun sets off
The start of September is traditionally time to sharpen those pencils ready for the start/return to school and Helix’s clear pencil case, £9.99, has everything you need – including permanent pens, ballpoint pens, pencil sharpener, eraser, pencils, geometry set and ruler. Helix has also given its iconic Oxford maths
set a modern multi-coloured makeover, and the new Limited Edition Oxford Colours Maths Set, £6.99, is now available in four eye-popping shades – bright pink, blue, green and purple – helping to equip today’s generation to pass any maths exam with flying colours! Both are available from all good stationery shops.
The launch of the latest in a line of parkruns to be held in the Tonbridge & Malling area saw 57 juniors aged between four and 14 take part in their very own dedicated junior parkrun at Tonbridge Farm Sportsground, next to the Angels Football Ground, Darenth Avenue, for the very first time.
The Tonbridge junior parkrun is the fourth parkrun in the borough, the second junior parkrun and the first dedicated to junior runners in Tonbridge. It is a weekly timed run but, unlike the 5km parkrun, which is held on Saturdays, the junior parkrun involves a 2km distance and is held on Sundays at 9am. It is free to take part and the route has been designed with safety in mind. All parkruns are managed completely by volunteers. Juniors first need to register with parkrun at
