BIDBOROUGH GASTROPUB CONTINUES TO EARN NATIONAL RECOGNITION
The Kentish Hare is continuing its award-winning streak by securing a place in the finals of the prestigious Great British Pub Awards. Celebrating the nation’s best pubs, the Bidborough gastropub has made it to the final rounds in the category of Best Food Pub. Now in its 17th year, the
Great British Pub Awards is the leading event for pub operators across the country, attracting hundreds of entries annually. Celebrity chefs and brothers, Chris and James Tanner head up The Kentish Hare’s kitchen, with the venue’s reputation for quality food and service already earning it national recognition since its opening in 2014. This includes securing two AA rosettes and a coveted Michelin listing.
Winners of the Great British Pub Awards will be decided by a team of judges, who visit and sample dishes at each of the finalist venues, and the winners will be
announced at the London Hilton on 7th September – so look out in our October issue for an update. • Visit

Local curry & raffle night is all the Raj!
Jewel Zaman, the proprietor of The Raj Pavilion in Tunbridge Wells, hosted a curry and raffle night to help the Warners Walkers team raise funds for their midnight charity walk. Donations to the evening’s raffle
were made by local companies including Tunbridge Wells BC, Assembly Hall Theatre, Fuller’s Family Butchers, Hoopers, Makeupbycaitlin, Country Flowers Ltd, Trinity Theatre, Sainsbury’s Great Hall Mount Pleasant, TWODS, TM Active, Raj Pavilion, and Grace Fashion Accessories. “Everybody really enjoyed the event and praised the food which I can confirm was absolutely delicious,” said Melanie Davis from the Warners Walkers team. “The management and staff were amazing and could not do enough for us – and we raised
over £800 for an amazing cause.”
The Warners Walkers team was made up of 12 members of staff – Richard Theobald, Elizabeth Dolding, Rachel Bell, Emily Hazel, Melanie Davis, Elly Venn, Lauren Brooks, Hannah Bradford-Smith, Connor Iontton, Sean Dowling, Charles Tennant and Ellie Norman – from the Tonbridge and Sevenoaks-based law firm, Warners Solicitors. They took part in Trek the Night Lite, a challenging walk of 18 miles across the South Downs at midnight and stomped home in second place. “The trek was really tough but very
rewarding and so far we have managed to
raise £3,370 for Action Medical Research,” said Warners Wallkers’ Ellie Norman. Hundreds of thousands of children’s
lives are devastated by disease and disability. Medical research can help children like these but is underfunded in the UK. For every project Action funds there is another one they have to turn away – simply because of a lack of funds. New treatments and cures for sick babies and children are urgently needed.
