n May, Sibford was pleased to host three Triathlons ... two inter-house events and one against five other schools ~ Windrush Valley School, Kitebrook House, New College School, Deddington C of E Primary and Christopher Rawlins Primary.

I

For our youngest competitors (Year 3 and 4), triathlon means competing in teams of three ... one swimmer, one cyclist and one runner ... while higher up the school, individual pupils undertake all three disciplines.

In the Junior School inter-house Tri, some 40

Triathlons in triplicate

children took part resulting in a win for Clark House in the Year 3/4 event and a win for Fry in the Year 5/6 event.

In the Senior School inter-house Tri, the Year 9/10 competition was a mixed event which saw Shae (Gillett) taking victory for the girls and Seb (Fry) for the boys. The Year 7/8 boys’ event was won by Louis (Nansen) and the girl’s race by Lara (Nansen).

The inter-house events proved good practice for the final Tri of the month with Sibford pupils putting in some excellent performances against competitors from other schools. Our Year 4 girls team of Emma, Lara and Olivia, and the Year 4 boys, Oscar, Tom and Freddie, both came home in first position. There were also first places for Amelie (Year 5 Girls), Samba (Year 5 Boys), Hannah (Year 6 Girls) and Maxwell (Year 6 Boys). • We were also delighted to host the North Oxfordshire School Sports Partnership Aquathlon which took place on 26 June.

At the start of the summer holidays, Sibford was delighted to host the Team Cherwell Junior Triathlon 2017. More than 200 young triathletes took part in the event and Toby Spence was on hand to present the winners with their prizes.
