An integral member of the Hereford and Worcestershire Junior Academy, 12 year-old Jewel Johnson has had the honour of being awarded May’s NAF Shining Star. Against stiff competition with all British Showjumping Junior Academy Members eligible for nomination, Jewel shone through after displaying her perseverance for continued improvement.
Jewel was nominated for the
award by Lead Coach Hannah Jackson “Jewel has proved to be a valuable member of the Junior Academy for the last two years and although she lives in Stoke, the family aim to get to as many training sessions as possible. Jewel has really progressed well and is a great member of the Academy Team. She started riding a new pony last year who has proved to be quite tricky, but she has persevered and is starting to gel with her new ride. She

The Northern Club Leagues, sponsored once again by the Equine magazine website at
www.theequinesite.co.uk, run at venues right across the region
throughout the year. Repeating their success in previous seasons, Sally Mcnaughton and Gunner Mason have a convincing lead in the horse leagues and are no strangers to the Championships.
The top 20 combinations at each height level - 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 1.00m qualify for the Championships and in the Pony leagues, Alexandra Jackson and Merlin are at the top of both the 70cm and 80cm and lying in second place behind Harri Baker and Heolyrhedyn Element in the 90cm league.
There’ll be a report and images in a future issue of Equine.
