Ontario this year with two stops in Ottawa (June 9th) and Toronto (June 24th). This was the PBR’s second year in Ottawa and first ever appearance in Toronto. The 2017 draw placed several of our provinces riders alongside both Canadian Cup Champions and invitees from the Built Ford Tough Series in the USA. Ontario’s own Nick Goncalves, Dusty McMullen, A.J. Vaal and Cody Heal all returned for their second year on the PBR Canada Monster Energy Tour. Nick who has been riding in the PBR Canada Cups and the PBR Velocity Tour events in the states described Ontario’s events as “ . . . the best I have been to all year so far. They’re action packed shows.” Additionally, Colton Matheson, from Metcalfe On-


tario, and Emerson Moulton from Athens Ontario made their PBR debuts. Emerson gave an awesome effort against ‘State Trooper’ in round one riding for 6.98 sec- onds. Even though the ride was not the full eight seconds his determination and try earned him a second bull and a place in the short round against ‘Well Hello’. Emerson entered the PBR in his second year of riding bulls having already won the Ram Rodeo Tour’s 2016 Bull Riding Year End Champion buckle in his first year ever riding. For Emerson, his first PBR was definitely an unforget- table experience made unforgettable by support from his family and friends. In his own words he described his first out as: “Incredible! Lockwood came to compete in Quebec’s Monster Energy Cup on June 2 along with Chase Outlaw who is no stranger to Canada having won the Calgary Stampede in 2014. The inclusion of these stellar names shows great growth for PBR Canada and points earned by our riders at these events can lead them to an invite to PBR events in the USA. In a competition where anyone can emerge the as the best rider of that


night, it was Canada’s own Justin Lloyd from Tisdale, Saskatchewan who won Toronto with 86 points aboard Otis from Mike Miller Bucking Bulls. Victory in Ottawa went to Washington’s Cody Casper with 88 points aboard Captain. Both these riders are currently chasing the Canadian National Standing number one spot which is held by Alberta’s Jorden Hansen. Watching the PBR live is an experience that will not be quickly for-


gotten. One only has to stand up on the chutes to feel the energy and adren- aline that only builds as riders nod their heads aboard some of Canada’s top bulls. In the coming months, the PBR Canada tour moves onto Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan and I want to end this piece by wishing rank rides and high scores to all of our riders who will be riding at these events throughout the summer.
