She gave her report on the work of the county council. The cost of adult social care, about £364m, takes over 40% of the council's budget. Roads In thewar on potholes, Cllr Hohler said more than 11,000 had been filled in and 8,000 square metres of road had been patched over. She said there had been a lot of problems with HGVs ignoring road signs and driving down narrow rural roads or seemingly missing the signs for the distribution centre at Ham Hill. She said these had been exacerbated by the M20 Junction 4 road works and she had had temporary and permanent road signs put up. The problems with HGVs could be caused by using satnavs are designed for cars which may explain why they are using unsuitable routes. Street lighting Cllr Hohler said all of KCC's street lighting was being switched to LED to save energy and maintenance costs.

THE two organists who play at the services at Snodland's churches have completed 101 years between them. Dr Andrew Ashbee started playing at

Christ Church, opposite his Malling Road house "for just two weeks" 60 years ago, and Rosemary Honey, of Queens Avenue, was asked to play at All Saints’ Church 41 years ago "for a few weeks, until they found someone permanent". Andrew has conducted the Snodland & District Choral Society since 1982, is a founder and chairman of the town's historical society, is the curator at the museum and has written many books. Rosemary and her husband Fred are members of the choral society. Formany years, she played the piano for the Silhouette Dance and Theatre School and for the WigmoreMusic and Drama Society.

warden service had been expanded in the fight against crime. Members’ grant Road safetywas a priority for Mrs Hohler, particularly concerning young drivers and motorcyclists and she had used funds from her member budget for a speed indicator device in Snodland. She had also contributed money to the town's Christmas lights and the installation of a lift at the council offices. Planning permission Goldgate Properties Ltd had applied to Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council for permission to change the use of Fleet House, 28 Church Field,

Snodland - the former offices of the Lead Wool Company. The application was to convert the build-

ing into nine flats, comprising seven one- bedroom apartments and two two-bedroom apartments or eight apartments, comprising four one-bedroom and four two-bedroom apartments. Snodland TownCouncil had no objection in principle but strong objection based on parking. Two parking bayswere not accessible and on-site parking was inadequate. Also, the traffic survey carried out on the 2011 census was out of date.
