Volunteers Needed To Set Up An Upton Car Service


With the Upton Friends of the Practice transport service closing, the existing volunteer drivers think it would be wonderful if we could re-establish a similar Upton volunteer car service in this area for those who have diffi culty accessing public transport. The previous scheme provided help to enable people to attend health-related appointments.


There are only a few volunteers left and we need your help to get things up and running! Volunteers are needed to:


• Co-ordinate dealing with requests for transport when they come in by linking them with drivers


• Provide administrative backup, including a Treasurer


• Drive. As one of the existing drivers says: “A few years ago I decided to join Friends of the Practice in Upton as a volunteer driver. I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Not only do you get to do something useful to help people who deserve our support, but you get to meet interesting people who can tell you about the history of the area. All car expenses are paid and any driving you do is on your terms.”


Funding is available to seed-fund the new scheme and could provide resources to assist the Treasurer and Co-ordinator.
