A group of UK Russell Group Universities is meeting with the top nine engineering institutions in China in a bid to build major collaborations around research and education. The consortium is the first of its
kind to partner UK universities with the top nine engineering research institutions in China. The partnership was set up
following a prestigious award by the British Council, which is aimed at building higher education links and helping to improve the quality of engineering research and teaching in China. The UK group of universities met
formally in March and is now meeting with the Chinese University Partners to discuss the collaboration during a special workshop in Beijing. The group represents one quarter of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities in the UK, with world- leading research and education excellence in engineering. Professor Andrew Long, The

Morningside launches minibus
Loughborough-based Morningside Pharmaceuticals has made a large donation towards a minibus for Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland. Following an official launch, the service will help
serve the local older community within the Charnwood area, particularly those who are isolated. Chief Executive Officer of Morningside Pharmaceuticals, Dr Nik Kotecha, said: “We wanted to help in some way to reach out to those older people who have found themselves incredibly isolated. “This minibus will be a lifeline for many local older
people throughout the Charnwood area and beyond and we are proud to help the work that Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland does in the community.” Executive Director of Age UK Leicester Shire &
Rutland, Tony Donovan, said: “This transport will provide an essential service that will help significantly towards our important work in tackling loneliness and isolation.”
