HEALTH & SAFETY - WORKWEAR

UNCOMPROMISING SAFETY IN MULTI-PROTECTIVE WORKWEAR

The future of multi-protective workwear is a unique combination of the highest safety, the best features and outstanding comfort

The MASCOT MULTISAFE range has taken extraordinary measures in terms of safety. The range combines the best features with an excellent comfort. Products in this range hold diverse properties e.g. breathable, wind and waterproof, protection against rain and cold, being anti-static, anti-acid and flame retardant.

CERTIFICATIONS

Products holding the right certifications are crucial. Protection is a high priority for MASCOT and therefore developing multi-protective clothing that is certified accordingly is important. In the new generation of workwear, the company uses a 100% ‘inherent’ fabric in which the flame retardant properties are woven in during production and therefore cannot be washed out over time. The fluorescent workwear is approved

according to EN ISO 20471 and furthermore, many of the fluorescent products are also certified to the chemical standard EN 13034. As one of the few in

the industry, MASCOT has several jackets certified to class 2 in the electric arc norm EN 61482-1-2.

ELECTRIC ARC EXPOSURE

It is important to wear products that are EN 61482-certified when entering situations in danger of exposure to electric arcs. In addition, a number of products from the MASCOT MULTISAFE range are tested according to EN 61482-1-1. Arc flashes in electrical equipment can be caused by handling errors during assembly, servicing and maintenance. These explosive energy bursts produce extremely high temperatures that are capable of igniting combustible materials in their proximity. It is no wonder then that an arc flash can have devastating effects.

SAFETY FIRST

MASCOT takes safety extremely seriously and garments that can help protect from such effects can be found within the MASCOT MULTISAFE range. The specific

thermal value of the arc protection in the MASCOT® MULTISAFE range has been measured and stated in cal/cm² or kJ/m². Inherent and treated fabrics can be used singly or layered to achieve an overall Arc Thermal Performance Value (ATPV) or Energy Break open threshold (Ebt) rating

Safety on the job is crucial. Today many industries require safety workwear on the job and it is a good investment. Workwear certified according to the correct norms keeps employees safe so they can concentrate on work. The company produces safety workwear including the multi-protective range to suppliers worldwide.

NEW PPE CLOTHING RANGE

Besides focusing on safety, the range also meet other important criteria from the end-users. The UK based company Nordex who offers powerful wind turbines, explains: “In a trial of new PPE clothing, our wind turbine technicians consistently rated MASCOT the highest
