Originally based in Esbjerg, Denmark ComtecInt is a single source supplier of high quality workwear, Safety and Personal Protective Equipment
In 2015 Comtec International chose to come to Hull and the Humber as it became clear that the developing offshore Wind Industry was a good opportunity for a company already supplying the Offshore Industry in Denmark. Having supported and supplied the Danish offshore Oil, Gas and the Wind Industry since 2001, the company has some 16 years’ experience and networks to draw on in support of companies either presently involved in, or proposing to develop offshore works.
HISTORY
ComtecInt UK was set up in March 2016 and became part of the ComtecInt group. Utilising local business partnerships they provide a single source solution, specialising in offshore workwear and Personal Protective Equipment and support companies throughout the European Offshore Wind market. Working closely with ComtecInt DK, Jonathan Isaac (ex Sub Sea Cabling) set up ComtecInt UK and moved into their present office at The Bloc, Anlaby. With an expanding stock and customer base Michael Clay (ex Royal Navy) was soon employed.
EXPANSION AND STRUCTURE
With expanding business the company soon moved to a permanent office with Hull warehousing partner GXD logistics, situated off Old Hedon Road in Hull. Given the importance of local content to UK customers and keeping internal logistics to a minimum ComtecInt UK has partnered with various local companies to improve their offer.

The company hold ranges that include Mascot Workwear, Viking Safety, Heightec, Mullion, Ursuit, EMG, Capital 3M, Cresto, Skylotec, DMM, Sievi, Redwing, Petzl and KASK amongst others and deals directly with the UK branches of their suppliers further developing these relationships with the growth of the UK windfarm industry.
COMPLETE SERVICE
To compliment and give a complete service they also offer Servicing & Inspection of PPE/Working at Heights equipment. Working with their supply partners Grimsby Company 3Q Engineering and Viking Safety UK, ComtecInt Uk can also arrange for Lifejackets, Personal Locator Beacons and Immersion suits to be inspected and tested.
LOCAL INVOLVEMENT
Keen to be part of the regional development of offshore wind the company has joined regional organisations; Green Port Hull, Team Humber Marine Alliance and Grimsby Renewables Partnership. ComtecInt UK is also a member of the Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce.
DONG ENERGY UK
As ComtecInt DK had already been supplying DONG Energy in Europe for some years, the company was asked to mirror this working relationship with DONG Energy UK.
A start was made by supplying some of Operation & Maintenance bases from the parent company in Denmark. This being successful ComtecInt UK also started to supply DONG’s construction projects as well as the O&M bases.
IMPROVING HSE PRACTICES
Jonathan Isaac, Director from ComtecInt explained: “DONG were looking to standardise their workwear and PPE to further improve their HSE practices. In partnership with our suppliers we have assisted them with this which has brought flexibility to their work force and more cost effectiveness in their purchasing. “Where appropriate we offer our customers the opportunity to have a bespoke webshop built allowing purchasing teams to initially negotiate and agree prices then letting their operational teams continue with the purchasing whilst working on site. This has been very successful with DONG as each site has its own Webshop catering to its own requirements. We adjust supply to meet any changing demands.”
SUPPORT
ComtecInt UK supports DONG Energy’s O&M bases, offshore construction projects and their new REnescience project in Northwich. “The project is a brand new waste treatment facility, which will separate recyclable materials from household waste and generate green electricity at the same time.” Jonathan concluded.
The company understands the
requirements of the offshore wind Industry and look to bring a level of standardisation whilst still meeting the needs of individual companies. They believe that with their single source solution and webshops, they can bring companies savings in both time and cost.
