T
he completion and opening of a new £24 million office development is set to
bring a huge boost to the East End of Glasgow. Police Scotland has agreed to
become the sole user of Riverside East, a 134,000 square foot building in Dalmarnock which is due to be completed by the end of November and ready for occupancy from the beginning of 2015. It will become home to
1,100 Police Scotland officers and staff, functioning as the main office and administrative centre for the West of Scotland. Ian Manson, the Chief
Executive of Clyde Gateway, said: ”Our task has always been to get this area best prepared for the longer-term legacy of the 2014 Commonwealth Games and to ensure the continued delivery of a physical, social and economic
transformation for the communities for many more years to come.” Te old East End is almost
unrecognisable and massive physical and environmental changes have taken place. Vast expanses of vacant and derelict land now have modern offices and industrial buildings, as well as serviced zones which are ready for future development.
