Local Practitioner Offers Evening and Weekend Hours

A

ndrea Lynn Waronker is pleased to announce she

Andrea Waronker and son

will be offering extended evening and weekend hours. Waronker, a licensed master social worker and former teacher, has worked with children, teens and adults. According to Waronker, “I believe in a holistic approach where we work with all areas of a person’s life. In order to help individual patients, we have to get to know the family, friends, and job or school issues as they

all have an impact on a person’s life.” Waronker builds a strong rapport with each of her clients

and provides them a safe place to work on their life issues. Waronker explains, “I love the rewards of helping people and improving the quality of their lives and relationships.” Her clients can attest to that. According to one client, “I was in real bad shape, and Andrea built up my self-worth and taught me how to take care of myself.” Another client remarked, “I never thought of group therapy before. I have since learned, from Andrea, that being in a group of peers I can learn from others and better my relationships. I learned how to give and receive feedback that helped me with my communication skills.” Waronker has worked with emotionally disturbed,

autistic and mentally challenged children and teens, as well as with many couples and families. She has extensive experi- ence working with clients with addiction and substance abuse. She offers services in individual, group and family modalities as well as group therapy.

O

n Saturday, March 10th from 2 to 5 p.m., Healing Arts New York will present a special, extended workshop

titled Write Your Self Open: The Holy Self at Birchwood Cen- ter in Nyack. During this three-hour workshop led by Rachel Astarte Piccione, attendees will reconnect with their divine self and write with that authentic voice, using a three-phase approach of guided meditation, writing, and discussion. “At some point in life, we may ask ourselves who we

really are,” says Piccione. “Are we the roles we play as fam- ily members, professionals, artists? Who would we be if we stopped trying to live up to the expectations that we act out those roles? Our true selves and our connection to the divine have always been present. While trying to make our way in the world, many of us have lost touch with this universal truth.” Attendees will explore the answer

to the question: What is my 'self' and why is it important for me to discover it? “The more pressing question, how- ever,” says Piccione, is “What is my quality of life if I don't?” No previous writing experience is

necessary. Rachel Astarte Piccione is an au-

thor, counselor, and educator living in Nyack. In addition to private sessions, she teaches weekly ‘Write Your Self Open’ classes at Birchwood Center. Rachel is the founder of Healing Arts New York, an online directory of wellness prac- titioners who employ the arts in their practice.
