t has been said, “What you think about, you bring about.” This simple statement is the catalyst to your life.
More often than not, most of us tend to think in negative terms. Is it that we’re all cynical in nature? Not necessarily. Often it is the fear that rises up within us of doubt, worry and inadequacy that creates an unconscious bond to at- tracting illness, depression and general negative experiences. A healthy mind is one in which we can see the reflection within our own outer circumstances and acknowledge our participation in the process. To say “think positive” is a nice
gesture, but unless one has conviction of spirit, it is simply that— a gesture. So how then do we transform our thinking to begin the manifestation of a healthy self? Baby steps. Any physical therapist will tell you, that once a muscle has been injured (using the muscle as a metaphor for our minds), going full out in an exercise regimen on that muscle will only cause greater injury. The same holds true in our minds. If we were to take on a resolution to devote all of our energies into being something that is uncharacteristic of our entire lives thus far, chances are good that we will see minimal (if any) results, leaving us with a greater injury to the psyche in the
understanding that “this stuff doesn’t work.”
Instead, choose one aspect of your
life, perhaps one small aspect of a rela- tionship, and focus on that. Ask yourself defining questions about the relation- ship and your participation. Break down the questions to an unbiased view. Ask yourself, “If I took on a more positive or proactive approach, what could I do and how can I think differently about it?” Focus solely on your participation and begin to imagine the other person lovingly receiving your new perspec- tive. Once you begin to see results, choose to take on another aspect. We are much more likely to trans-
form based on results than theory. It is a process, but certainly a process worth engaging in. Positive perspectives can and will affect every ounce of your be- ing in the transformation of your entire healthy self.
