To Protect Your Face In Winter

Skin Care Tips D

uring winter it is important to take extra care of your skin especially the facial region. Lack of care may lead to quick aging of your skin. Here are some tips to help you get

through these next few dry, cold months. Use moisturizer: After showering, apply moisturizer to your

face as well as your body. Consider using moisturizer with SPF 30 protection as the winter sun can be very hard on your skin. Moisturizer acts as a barrier and protects the skin from elements of environment. Get sufficient sleep: Insufficient sleep leads to the development

of dark circles and wrinkles underneath the eyes. It is recommended you get at least seven hours of sleep at night. Eat a nutritious diet and drink plenty of water: External care

alone will not give you desired results. It is highly recommended you eat a diet with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. The antioxidants help in elimi- nating the toxic material from the body. Include foods rich in essen- tial fatty acids, like flaxseed and fish oils, to prevent skin from becoming dry. To keep the skin moist you should also drink plenty of water. Wash your face regularly: Use lukewarm water to clean your

face. Even if you stay at home, wash your face at least twice a day with a very mild soap. Believe it or not, it’s even better to wash without any soap at all. Do not scrub your face very often: Scrubbing definitely helps

to remove the dead skin cells but extensive scrubbing can damage the skin. Take care of your lips: Lips get chapped easily during the win-

ter season if they are not taken care properly. Apply a lip balm with vitamin E to maintain elasticity and help to keep the lips moist. Select lip balms with vitamin E to maintain good elasticity of lips. Do not use very hot water: Never wash your face with very hot

water, the skin gets parched and also gets dehydrated very easily. Consider using facial gels with antioxidant facial oil. This will help to maintain your skin’s moisture. Grow indoor plants:During the winter, the heaters we use at

home cause the skin to dry. To prevent this consider using a humidi- fier or grow indoor plants to maintain the humidity levels in the house. Use the right foundation: It is recommended to use foundation

that is made of natural products. Consider using only water based and water resistant foundations. Take good care of your skin, it will be with you the rest of your

life! adsales@outandaboutmagazine.com
