HOW TO TELL EVERYONE A SECRET? Ssshhh……..!! Tell Everyone

As many people in the security business are aware externally beaded double glazed windows are a security risk – the beads can be removed and then the window becomes just like an unlocked door. Most Crime prevention officers will be able to tell many stories of how burglars have gained access and stolen quickly and silently often taking car keys and stealing a car as well. Market Research shows that about 6 million homes in the UK are vulnerable but the fact is that most home owners are unaware that there is a problem. Only those to whom it has happened really re- alise how simple and easy it is for a bur- glar to gain access. Different solutions to the problem do

exist. Te most common is to use a double sided adhesive tape which bonds the win- dow to the frame. Tese tapes however suffer from a number of problems. Firstly if the glass is not clean then the bonding is

ineffective and as many windows are fit- ted on building sites – it is very common for the glass to be very dusty when fitted. Secondly the tapes do now allow the fitter to adjust the glass in the frame and thus fitters tend to use detergent or silicone on the glass which again reduces the effec- tiveness of the bond – (It has been known for some fitters just not to removing the backing from the strip!) Finally and more importantly there is no way to check that the glass is secure apart from taking the beads off and checking – which is very time consuming to check a large prop- erty.

“The simple

metal lock can be fitted easily and retrospectively to all externally glazed windows” No Go Security Products now have the

solution to the problem. Te simple metal lock can be fitted easily and retrospective- ly to all externally glazed windows. Te metal base is bonded to the glass with a special adhesive and the clamp adjusted to suit virtually any window frame profile. It gives a visible deterrent to any would be burglar not to attempt to remove the beads and can be inspected easily. Te problem faced by this new com-

pany is how to get the message out to the homeowners that there is a problem and a solution! Understandably Crime Pre-

vention Officers are not keen on a major advertising campaign aimed at home owners which would nicely inform a lot of would be criminals how easy it is to take windows out. So we need to use respon- sible and respected people who are advis- ing home owners on security to get the message out to them and tell them that there is an effective solution. Tat is why we are looking to work with locksmiths as there is an opportunity for them when they are visiting premises to examine the customers’ windows and advise those who are vulnerable about the problem and to make additional sales by supplying and fitting No Go Glass Locks.

Any locksmith or handyman who would like to discuss how they can expand their business by becoming an approved fit- ter of No Go Glass Locks should contact the company on 08455 280183 or email info@nogosecurity.co.uk.
