AUGUST 2011 THE RIDER /49 CTHS WindReach Farm Wowed By Generosity of Toronto District Masons
Yearling Sales Grads Finish 1-2-3 in $1 Million Queen’s Plate
Rexdale, ON – June 30, 2011 – Inglorious, dominated the 152nd run- ning of the $1 million Queen’s Plate, Canada’s most famous horse race, at Woodbine Racetrack on June 26th, with fellow Sales grads Hippolytus and Pender Harbour finishing second and third, respectively.
A graduate of the 2009 CTHS Yearling Sale, Inglorious became the first filly to win the Queen’s Plate since 2001, after besting her 16 male rivals in a spectacular performance. The Ontario-bred was fresh from her victory in the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks on June 5th. Bred by Arosa Farms, Inglorious was a $90,000 pur- chase for Donver Stable consigned through Hill ‘N’ Dale Sales Agency, Agent, and currently has career earn- ings totaling $1.25 million.
Runners up Hippolytus and Pen- der Harbour are also CTHS Yearling Sale graduates of the 2009 Yearling Sale, with Hippolytus purchased for $15,000 and Pender Harbour for $17,000. Bred and sold by John Carey, Hippolytus currently has $329,950 in earnings for owners Horse’n Around Racing Stable and Richard Lederman. Third place fin- isher Pender Harbour, bred and sold by Gardiner Farms Limited, now has earnings of $222,020 for owners Dennis Andrews, Sandra Lazaruk, and Rob and Roberta Giffin. Both runners were sired by the Ontario Sire Stakes winner Philantropist. The CTHS extends congratula- tions to all our Stakes winning Sales Graduates and their connections and look forward to seeing you at the upcoming Canadian-Bred Yearling Sale in September. The Selected Ses- sions take place on September 5 and 6, and the Open Session, on Septem- ber 10, 2011, at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion, Woodbine Racetrack, in Toronto, Ontario.
In addition to yearlings by some of North America’s top sires, Queen’s Plate connections to this year’s Yearling Sale include a full brother to Hippolytus and a half sister (by Old Forester) to Pender Harbour in the Selected Sessions.
CTHS Sale Yearlings ranked at the top of the list in average earnings for Leading Yearling Sales by Earn- ings>Price from 2006-2008, accord- ing to research conducted by The Blood-Horse Market Watch. (Mar- ketWatch Volume XV, Number 1). Yearling Sale catalogues will be available online mid to late July, with the printed versions available in early August. For more information, please visit

On Saturday June 25, 130 members of the Toronto District Masons, their families and friends visited WindReach Farm for their annual sum- mer BBQ and awards presentations. The event wrapped up with the Masons presenting a donation to WindReach Farm in the amount of $77,000.00!
The substantial donation is a culmination of the fundraising activities of local Mason lodges within the Toronto East and the Toronto Humber Valley Masons districts. WindReach Board and staff were humbled and extremely grateful to be the recipient of such a generous and significant contribution.
