JOYFUL A Juicy,
Life by Linda Sechrist
When spoken aloud, Judy Ann Foster’s book title, A Juicy, Joyful Life, feels playful, inviting, creative, intriguing and catchy.
While the optimism and enthusiasm implied in “joyful” and the sense of adventure suggested by “juicy” don’t fully capture the reason for the author’s success, they come close enough to describing what has made Foster’s Women’s Wisdom networking groups so successful. Now celebrating its 19th anniversary, Women’s Wisdom is a virtual rock that women can count on, one trusted and supported by female business owners, entrepreneurs and other women seeking like- minded friends. Any interviewer who
queries Foster about why the network has flourished for so long when others typi- cally breathe their last within five years,

receives meatier explanations. Re- flecting upon the birth of the group, its history and the effort she has invested in ensuring its success, Foster is likely to use words like perseverance, commitment and value. Although these are qualities that Foster herself pos- sesses, women who attend the network- ing events often describe others. At her first Women’s Wisdom get-together, Terri Coleman, publisher’s assistant at Natural Awakenings, was touched by Foster’s graciousness as a host who put her guests at ease. “She has a tremendous sense of grace and hospitality that sets the tone for the room and the evening,” says Coleman, who was impressed by the individuals, their mix of interests and the heartfelt connections she made. In Foster’s world
of organic networking, nothing stops growing or gets stale. Monthly events, focused on women empowering women in friendship and business, give everyone an op-
portunity to share who they are, what they do and how
they can be supported, and to exchange marketing materials. For Gloria Taylor

Brown, local artist and teacher, Women’s Wisdom was what she was looking for when she moved to San Diego. “My very first meeting with these warm-heart- ed and spiritual women let me know that I had found an organization where I could find friends in a new town,” says Brown. “Although the focus was more on business than spiritual pursuits, most of the women were involved with promoting businesses that were rooted in holistic and natural principles.” The music to Brown’s ears that night and during many others is a regular Foster mantra: “We are all in this together, and there is abundance for all.” Women’s Wisdom’s upbeat eve-
nings move along quickly, each an example of, “no fear and no lack,” net- working. Optimistic, enthusiastic and filled with the power of possibilities, they help empower every woman who attends to live a juicy, joyful life.
