Saunas&Steam OCT 2010 SPN

THIS & RIGHT: Certikin’s successful Tranquillity Wellness range of steam rooms and showers has proved a market hit

bespoke systems for homes, high end property developments and spas.

“Saunas and steam rooms are definitely becoming more popular in the UK, and they offer a number of benefits,” explains Kicki. “Relaxing in a sauna or steam room is a great way to unwind and relieve stress, It also helps with treating colds, flu and similar problems, and it allows the body to release endorphins, enhancing the sense of wellbeing. This instantly makes you feel better.” Dröm says the market has changed gear and saunas and steam rooms are now viewed as an integral part of the wet leisure experience. “We don’t sell saunas out of a box,” said Diane Bird. “The business is now all about designers wanting to offer their clients something special and something spectacular which is where some of the great designs come in.”

A recent example of this is the designs for a high end property in a private road in Buckinghamshire. Dröm UK was asked to recreate a steam room, using a high quality Tylö steam generator, it has luxury Bisazza tiling and full glass frontage as well as colour changing fibre optic light features in the ceiling and luxury curved anatomically shaped benches. Most of their installations are custom built for private residences, boutique hotels, spas and leisure complexes. Dröm UK firmly believes that “your imagination is the only limitation”. On display in the Dröm UK showroom is a new model, “ASIA”, which is a bespoke design, incorporating “floating benches” which will seat 12 people comfortably. Using sauna technology from Tylö, the Asia model can be constructed in a choice of interior wood finishes, including Aspen, Beech and Alder.

Both sauna and steam rooms incorporate specialist speakers which link with the in-house audio system and each will seat six or seven people. No-one believes that technology will stand still.

“Both sauna and steam baths are therapeutic, but the high moisture content in a steam room is especially good for respiratory problems”

A new electronic control panel to set and control domestic or commercial sauna heater or steam room generator operations remotely, has been introduced into the UK by Swedish sauna manufacturer Tylö through Golden Coast. The stylish internal or external wall-mounted ‘h1’ touch-screen unit can pre-set the maximum temperature and lighting level within a sauna cabin or steam room, as well as showing the real- time temperature and in-operation time mode. With the ability to set a running time of up to 23 hours for either sauna and/or steam functions, the unit can pre-set ‘start’ and ‘stop’ within a 24- hour period.

The ‘h1’ can be used to replace the previous Tylö CC10 and CC50 control panels. A new high-gloss white acrylic is being used by Tylö for the interior panels and bench seating in its Excellent steam rooms, and for the integrated wall and moulded seat modules of its Elysée steam rooms to create a cleaner, more sober elegant feel. Giving both units a facelift to improve functionality and design, the previous anodised aluminium external frame profiles have also been replaced with white high-gloss lacquered profiles. In the Excellent, the lower cover panels on the bench seating have been removed to give the steam room a lighter more open feel, making

Interior furniture from this Helo sauna including benches and heater guards, are made from splinter free, Abachi wood
