UPDATE: The latest news from SPATA and BISHTA

PIP’s role remains vital in raising the industry’s profile to the wider market

The work of PIP is vital in promoting the industry and a number of new and existing opportunities are being taken, with the support of BOTTLE PR and Go Publishing.

Key information is being provided regularly to the trade through the pages of SPN. In terms of the consumer press, our messages need to reach out to the end user through a range of publications, such as What Pool & Hot Tub; Traditional Homes & Interiors and the County Life publications.

Through BOTTLE PR’s media contacts we are beginning to find new trade and consumer media to promote the industry and we can get more rapid responses to stories that affect our industry. Examples of publications that we have recently reached include Self Builder magazine, Spa Secrets and Construction magazine. The stories are being posted in the press section of the BISHTA and SPATA websites. A number of consumer factsheets are being developed and are being made available in the members’ area of the BISHTA and SPATA websites.

These factsheets will be initially produced as pdf’s and after feedback from members some of the most popular ones will be produced in paper format. They will cover topics such as pool types, information on covers and enclosures, heat sources and further details about SPATA. The factsheets will work extremely well with the folders already produced and members can customise the handouts to suit their own business. The member factsheets already produced for BISHTA and SPATA registered companies are due to be supplemented by a minimum of at least

one new factsheet per month (and it is likely to be even more between now and March 2011). Any feedback on factsheets that members would like to see drafted will be warmly welcomed. A number of promotional items are being obtained for members to promote the membership within BISHTA and SPATA, including mugs and stickers and an open and closed sign is being provided to BISHTA members. The range of items will be expanded every year and members can have their say on what items they would like to receive. Finally for this issue, PIP has been developing a list of marketing toolkit ideas to help members make the most of the expertise within the Trade Associations. A range of topics have been outlined and some have been produced to help members understand how to promote their company even more effectively. Topics being covered include press releases, dealing with the media, advertising and sponsorship, with other ideas to follow throughout 2011. Case studies will be added to the toolkits to make a more comprehensive resource.
