The Virginia Swimgym pool and building are manufactured by Chesterfield based Timberline Ltd, whose entry into the pool market comes after an intense research programme. The Swimgym is a small swimming pool, manufactured with up to date timber-engineering principles, holding approximately 10,000 litres of water. The fitness element to the pool comes with three ‘Riverjet’ counter-current swimming devices, pumping 50 litres per second against the swimmer... enabling active exercise ‘on the spot’. Eight powerful hydro massage jets operating on the Venturi principle also offer total relaxation. The pool is engineered so it is capable of standing above-ground or in-ground.
The package costs just under £30,000 and the Swimgym and building come in a form, which can be delivered through a doorway or a small aperture – saving on transport costs and craneage charges. “Compared with traditional pools, the Swimgym represents outstanding value in terms of running costs because the volume of water involved is just 10,000 litres compared with a typical outdoor pool holding 50,000 litres. This smaller volume of water in a Swimgym can be maintained at a correspondingly higher temperature with lower energy costs. “A high degree of insulation in walls and floor of the pool drastically reduces heat loss and a heat retention blanket reduces pool heat loss and water evaporation. The smaller volume of water means substantially less chemical maintenance and resultant costs. A high degree of insulation in the Virginia building in floor, walls and roof cavity minimise heat loss and maximise running economies. spn
