LEMO's latest high density multipole plastic connector is now also available through Farnell
his new range of UL recognised connectors feature a novel patented internal latching system, which provides additional protection for the latches, further strengthening an already tough plastic circular connector. Based on the long-established Redel 1P range of connectors, which are widely used in medical applications, the re-arrangement of latches also provides extra space to permit a significant increase in the number of contacts by the use of a rectangular insert from a maximum of 14 contacts to 22 contacts all 1.2A continuous rated. Other benefits include 3 keys for ease of mating, particularly blind mating, ease of termination due to the linear pin arrangement of contacts extensive resistance to sterilisation and identical panel cut-out as the standard Redel 1P range.

Fischer’s disposable connectors for medical applications available from Astute Electronics
The push-pull circular connector is cost effective yet does not compromise on quality. It provides the competitive pricing and performance needed for disposable medical devices. Whether directly mounted in a disposable hand piece, over-moulded or mounted to a disposable cable, this plastic connector comes in multiple configurations and optimally suits a wide range of applications from catheters to surgical hand tools and more. The Fischer disposable turnkey connector has similar features to the rest of the disposable range but is pre-cabled therefore immediately usable in an application. There is ingress protection to IP65 (IEC 60529) and they are completely dust tight and protected against water. There is also a high degree of electrical insulation. Compatible with the receptacles of the Fischer Core series (rated at 10,000 mating cycles), it is available with brass contacts in an eight-pin configuration as standard with a 16- pin version available on request. The unit is supplied with 1, 2 or 5m of PVC medical cable and is fast and simple to integrate into any medical device. The products meet medical ISO 13485 standards, have fully insulated bodies and are sterilised by Eto and Gamma. The modular design includes a one- or two-piece shell that allows the easy integration of embedded electronics. They have stamped or machined contacts. Colour coded for easy identification, they have a quality tactile feel and a click ensures secure plugging.
