CombiTac connector system now available
in corrosion resistant plastic housings
M
ulti-Contact's versatile CombiTac connector system is now available with plastic housings, making it suitable for industrial environments and other applications where resistance to aggressive chemical agents is required. The connectors can be fitted with any combination of high voltage, high current, data, fibre optic, power, thermocouple and coaxial contacts, and even pneumatic and fluid connectors. Available in four sizes, with top or side M32 cable entry, the plastic connectors can be panel mounted or built into DIN coupler hoods. As the rugged housing is made of antistatic thermoplastic material, there is no need for additional earthing. Environmental protection to IP65 is provided when mated, and operating temperatures are from -40degC to + 90degC. An interactive configuration tool on Multi-Contact's web site enables engineers to build modular assemblies online, explore the final product, review assembly dimensions and request a quotation.

n the most recent Ecodesign standard EN 50598-2, the European Union is establishing efficiency requirements for drive electronics as well as complete drive systems. Ahead of any regulations becoming effective, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS is already performing tests and numerical analyses for components and systems manufactured in- house and can therefore quickly provide detailed information to resolve any customer queries concerning the EN 50598-2 standard. Future requirements can be flexibly fulfilled. The standard defines efficiency classes for frequency inverters and motor starters: IE0 (high losses), IE1 (reference values), and IE2 (losses significantly below reference). Following the same pattern, system efficiency is rated IES0, IES1, and IES2.

Low Profile 1.0mm pitch Connectors A
vailable from the Interconnection Specialists, Selwyn Electronics, is the Mezza-pede® range of low profile, 1mm pitch board to board or cable to board connectors where long term reliability is required. Screw machined sockets with 6 finger contacts and heavy gold plating , these connectors have passed the 20 day mixed flowing gas (MFG) test required in many telecom and other severe environment and other long life applications. Dual row configurations include 8, 14, and 36 position although others are available on request, SMT board to board and thru hole FFC cable versions are available. The 4mm stack height makes it ideal for tight board to board applications., and the overmoulded lead frame seals the SMT contacts which prevents solder wicking, ensuring a secure solder joint. Samples are available on request from Selwyn Electronics.

Switchtec’s solid state relays are fully loaded for ease of ordering and high performance
vailable from specialist distributor Switchtec, the Kudom KSV series solid-state relays (SSRs) offer fast, reliable switching in applications requiring a high operating speed and a long electrical life.
A The modular, DIN rail mount relays feature high performance
characteristics and are simple to order as the heatsink is included, reducing serial number options. A major benefit of the KSV series is its modular construction. Relays are supplied complete with a built in heat sink and a DIN rail/surface mount clip. With standard SSRs, purchasers have to place separate sub orders for the relay, protection cover, thermal pad and heat sink. Similarly, selection of the correct sized heat sink can be problematic. The benefit of the KSV series is just one part number, and it being automatically supplied with the correctly rated heat sink and protection cover. As SSRs have no moving contacts, they are ideally suited to applications with high switching levels or a requirement for rapid switching times.
