TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION ADVERTORIAL

Whilst many of the improvements are based around improving the customer experience, Fascia has not forgotten their social and ecological responsibility. In direct contrast to the increased productivity was their reduced energy consumption and carbon footprint. Not only did they utilise heat exchange units within the Sakurai lines but they have been working with ‘SMARTech Energy’, specialists in energy optimisation and waste reduction. SMARTech developed a strategy that included changing the factory lighting, optimising all machinery and motors, installing inverters to air handling systems and closely balancing the incoming power supply. The result is a further 20% annual reduction in their energy consumption, further evidencing Fascia’s commitment to continual improvement and waste reduction across the board. The hard work and strive for perfection has not gone unnoticed within industry. In 2012 Fascia Graphics® were shortlisted for the prestigious Financial Mail ‘Made in Britain’ award.. The award specifically looks at British-based manufacturers who have a positive effect on their local and national environment whilst achieving financial stability and growth. With all the negativity that has been reported around British manufacturing in the last five years it’s refreshing to see a British based manufacturer bucking the trend and showing that success, stability and growth are possible and sustainable.

And it seems Fascia Graphics® are not alone. In

2014 Fascia signed up for the ‘Made in Britain’ initiative. Currently having over 600 member companies this initiative is specifically for manufacturing companies who commit to purchasing and manufacturing here in the UK. Paul Bennett commented ‘Over the past few years we have seen many British companies move their manufacturing facilities to the Far East. There has also been a tendency for British companies to purchase many of their raw materials from the Far East - the obvious attraction being cost savings. Here at Fascia we believe that British built products are the best in the world and we are committed to purchasing and manufacturing right here in the UK, helping to repair and sustain the economy of this great nation.’

So with such a commitment to British manufacturing, I asked

Fascia’s Managing Director

whether the company can realistically compete with the Far-East? His response was typical of a progressive company,

saying ‘Absolutely, the

investments we have made with the Sakurai lines, the automated pick & place assembly machines, the latest digital technologies and many process improvements have all been with this end goal. By minimising the running costs of the business and reducing waste across all areas we have continued to operate profitably, whilst being able to pass the cost savings onto their customer base and keep their prices globally competitive.’

The further

benefits of Fascia’s investments into the plant and equipment also ensure the products manufactured are of the highest quality and are delivered on-time. Fascia’s future looks set to be a successful one.

The growth and improvement programmes continue and the pursuit of excellence is present in all the company does. They recently launched a new website and are now active across all facets of social media. Constantly looking at new product

lines and production techniques continues to keep the company fresh. The investment in the apprenticeship programmes ensures the best talent will be coming through the ranks to carry the vision for the next twenty years and beyond. The future of industrial printing looks good, with the recent developments in printed technologies and printed electronics it is an industry on the rise. We live in a time where smart watches, RFID tags, touchscreens, smart-glasses and digital information are a part of everyday life. All of these technologies rely on industrial printing and printed electronics. Manufacturing companies within this arena have the opportunity to expand and improve.

enter 800 More than 20 years’ experience in the fire and security sector

In 1994 Fascia approached one of the market leaders in radio-based fire and security solutions and after being impressed by their competitive quote and personal approach, a 20 year business partnership started. The company’s customers include high street banks, building societies, retail stores, and public buildings that require total radio systems that preclude the use of cable, and which offer trouble-free and reliable operation. Since the outset, Fascia became increasingly involved in new product developments with the fire and security specialist, and they are now the sole supplier of membrane keypads, overlays, and labels to the company.

The purchasing manager of the company explained: "I am without doubt that Fascia Graphics is the best in the business.

Fascia has been a supplier to us for around 20 years. I do 'price checks' with new suppliers from time to time and find Fascia to be very competitive in the market, and their quality is first class!” “I would also recommend Fascia to companies that require quick turnaround of product for prototypes. Our ability to show professional prototypes at exhibitions with purpose built and high quality membrane keypads and labels has certainly helped our product sales.”
