New data and server cabinets combine ease of installation, accessibility, strength and price
Hylec-APL, the specialist supplier of electrical and electronic components, enclosures and rack systems, is announcing RETO, the latest line in 19in data and server cabinets from Retex, which offers many advantages, including ease of installation, accessibility, strength and price.
Retex, a Spanish enclosure manufacturer, is known for the design of its
products, the majority of which are shipped flat-pack, for ease of transportation and installation, especially in difficult-to-access server rooms. The new RETO rack differs from previous generation products because it has no external structure. This maximizes internal space utilization, and also helps facilitate quick assembly. However load-carrying-capability has not been compromised; RETO racks can handle up to 1200kg – up to 50% more than some cheap flat pack models - and they are around 25% more cost-effective than Retex’s Logic2 rack, which handles up to 1500kg.
According to Retex’s technical marketing director, Javier Marti, RETO racks offer other advantages as well. “Like Logic2, RETO has been designed for flat-pack”, he emphasizes, “using quick-fittings rather than bolts and screws wherever possible. There are only eight parts and they all come in one box – so there is no confusion over mis-identified or lost screws and fixings. This means that one person can fully assemble a RETO rack in around five minutes only.”
Attaching side panels requires no screws; baying, too, is a simple screwless
operation. Internally, infinite adjustment of shelving is possible, maximizing space utilization. Racks can be colour-coded for identification and/or branding.

Mouser Stocking Industry’s Smallest Inertial Measurement Unit, the BMI160 6-Axis from Bosch Sensortec
Mouser Electronics, Inc., the global authorized distributor with the newest semiconductors and electronic components, is now stocking the BMI160 6-Axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) from Bosch Sensortec. This low-power, low-noise unit is designed for mobile applications that require highly accurate, real-time sensor data, such as augmented reality, immersive gaming and indoor navigation. The BMI160’s tiny 2.5 x 3.0 x 0.83mm, 14-pin LGA package and built-in configurable power management unit (PMU) make it the smallest inertial measurement unit in the market. The Bosch Sensortec BMI160 6-Axis Inertial Measurement Unit,
available from Mouser Electronics, features a 16-bit, 3-axis accelerometer and an ultra-low power 16-bit, 3-axis gyroscope that consume only 950 µA in full operation without internal duty cycling — ideal for always-on applications like wearable devices. Further supporting always-on applications, a configurable on-chip interrupt engine provides context awareness for operations such as any- or no-motion detection, tap/double tap sensing, orientation detection, free-fall, or shock events. The IMU also offers 6- and 9- axis sensor fusion, synchronizing data with an external sensor, such as a magnetometer. The BMI160 is also equipped with an integrated 1024 byte FIFO buffer that supports low-power applications and prevents data loss in non-real-time systems. The IMU offers a wide supply voltage (VDD) range from 1.7V to 3.6V, a flexible digital primary interface to connect to host over I2C or SPI, and compatibility with Android 4.4 (KitKat) and Windows 8.1. The Bosch Sensortec BMI160 6-Axis Inertial Measurement Unit is ideally suited for augmented reality, immersive gaming, personal health and fitness, indoor navigation and any other sensor-based applications requiring context awareness.
