What Beef Dish is on Your Valentine’s Day Menu?
By Ellen H. Brisendine,
ehbrisendine@tscra.org I
HAVE A VALENTINE’S DAY CHALLENGE FOR YOU — 2 challenges, actually. The fi rst challenge is also a reminder that
Valentine’s Day is Saturday, Feb. 14. Serve your Valentine a great beef meal or share a great beef
meal at your favorite restaurant. If you make dinner at home this Valentine’s Day, here’s the second chal-
lenge. Send me a picture of the fi nished dish, along with the recipe. I’ll enter your recipe in the Cattle Raisers Cook Book Beef Recipe of the Year Contest, which is being held by Michele Woodham and her colleagues at Cattle Raisers Insurance. The foodies on your TSCRA staff will
prepare the recipes and a panel of guest tasters will choose the winner. The winner will receive a set of Lodge
cast iron cookware and we’ll have a blue ribbon presentation at the Cattle Raisers In- surance booth at the 2015 Cattle Raisers Con- vention.
Valentine’s Day, Saturday, Feb. 14 Send us your best beef recipe for your favorite Valentine.
I know our community contains excellent beef chefs. Men, women,
children — all are welcome to enter the contest. Surely you’ll be putting your best beef dish forward for your best Valentine this month. Just share the love with the rest of us. Speaking of the 2015 Cattle Raisers Convention, it is going to be huge!
We will have live cattle displays and animal handling demonstrations in the Expo. The schedule is packed with more classes, more information ses- sions and more entertainment. Come for a day or come for the weekend. We have specially priced pack-
ages for any time budget and any cash budget. You can read just a few of the highlights of the March 27 to 29 event in the Cattle Raisers Community section of this issue. It’s quick and easy to register online at
www.tscra.org/convention and
to pay by check or credit card. Or, if you’d like help with convention reg- istration, the association staff will be glad to help. Just call 800-242-7820. So let’s recap the challenge: Sometime this month, celebrate Valentine’s
Day with a great beef meal, at home or away. Snap a shot of your great creation and send it to me with the recipe. We’ll share the recipes and the photos online and you might win a set of American-made Lodge cookware and a fancy blue ribbon!
