OLLECTIONS UNDER TEXAS’ NEW STATE BEEF CHECKOFF PRO- gram began Oct. 1, 2014, after Texas beef pro-


ducers voted to es- tablish a state-level beef checkoff pro- gram that was ap- proved by a wide 66 percent margin of voters. The Texas Department of Ag- riculture conducted the referendum upon petition by cattle in- dustry organizations, under the authorities designated by the Texas Legislature. The program is funded through a refundable $1 per

The BPRCT consists of 20 Texas cattle producers appointed by the Texas commis- sioner of agriculture. All state beef checkoff programs are overseen by the BPRCT. We are working to continue to grow beef demand by invest- ing in program areas such as retail and foodservice, international export marketing and digital consumer marketing.” The 2015 fi scal year for the BPRCT began Oct. 1, 2014, with a budget of $5.67 million.
