The early pictures were taken with a 35mm camera and the prints were scanned for digital storage. The quality improved when we moved to digital cameras, but any photographic record is useful to monitor range trends.

When rainfall returned during the early 2000s, the forage began to recover. The annual photos were used to make comparisons and to adjust stocking rates to maximize recovery.
