Wirquin together for charity

Wirquin raced two teams in the annual Doncaster Dragon Boat Race to raise over £850 for a local charity that supports people with terminal cancer. The Wirquin Black Pig team, captained by Sales &

Marketing Director, Kevin Gates (aka Captain Plugwash) included 11 staff members from the Marketing Development Unit, and the Wirquin Together team, managed by Plant Director, Johan Le Saux, included crew members working in Operations. Throughout the day, 33 boats entered by local

companies raced against each on the local lake and Wirquin welcomed members of the public to its presentation stand. In one of the heats, the two Wirquin teams

competed against each other for an incredibly close finish - the Operations team beat the Sales & Marketing team by less than one second. Says Managing Director, Gwenhael Le Coent,

who was the drummer for the winning Wirquin team: “We were delighted to be a part of such a successful event with other local businesses to raise money for the Eve Merton Dreams Trust charity. The weather and atmosphere were great and there was a high team spirit between the two Wirquin crews. It’s definitely to be repeated!” Overall, Wirquin’s Operations team finished in

16th place and the Sales & Marketing boat finished 18th out of the 33 boats entered by local companies. Wirquin, a leading sanitary equipment specialist

based in Doncaster, looks forward to entering this local charity event again next year - when the two teams will have a rematch!

Caulfield said, “Clara’s experience, knowledge and enthusiasm have been a true revelation to us all in the past month, and the strategies we are working on together promise to take our on-line and social media presence to the next level making BA a true leader in what has now become such an interactive and exciting segment of our sales and marketing strategy”
