TWO INDIAN WINS FOR IDA IRELAND
Indian companies Aditi Technologies and Synowledge are to set up operations in Dublin with the creation of 75 new jobs between them. The announcements were made during a recent trade mission to India, which was led by Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD. Both investments are supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, through IDA Ireland.

Aditi Technologies is to establish its European services and business development centre in Dublin with the creation of 40 jobs. “Ireland offers an encouraging
investment climate with investor and business friendly policies so it became an obvious choice for us when looking at our expansion in Europe,” said Kaushik Banerjee, VP Europe, Aditi Technologies. “There is also a wealth of local technology talent, which we are looking forward to making part of Aditi.” Meanwhile, Synowledge, which specialises in the provision of drug safety and regulatory affairs services for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device sectors, is to establish an international headquarters in Dublin with the creation of 35 new high quality jobs. “Having grown exponentially since we
began operations in 2009, we were proud to be recognised recently as one of the fastest growing private companies in the US,” said Sankesh Abbhi, president and CEO of Synowledge. “Our growth is based on our focus on
excellence, our people and our clients. We are able to manage such dynamic change because of our agility and ability to locate strategically to best serve our clients. “Ireland was a logical choice for our international base to seamlessly connect with our US HQ and our delivery centres in Europe, India and Japan.”

GILT ESTABLISHING PLATFORM INNOVATION CENTRE IN DUBLIN
Online shopping website Gilt is to create 45 software engineering jobs in Dublin over the next two years through the establishment of a platform innovation centre in the city. The company said it will
also continue to add fi nance and customer service positions in its Limerick offi ce. Gilt fi rst established
operations in Ireland in 2011 and currently employs more than 150 people at its Limerick and Dublin offi ces. “Our Irish technology team has been instrumental in further developing Gilt’s core e-commerce platform, bringing a combination of engineering discipline, innovation and a passion for quality that is rare,” said Gilt CEO Michelle Peluso. “We are excited by the opportunity to further harness the rich, deep talent pool available to us in Ireland. Our platform innovation centre in Dublin will own and accelerate some of Gilt’s most critical development projects.”
WELLMAN INVESTS €5M IN BUSINESS TRANSFORMATION IN CO CAVAN
Wellman International, which recently celebrated 40 years of operations in
Mullagh, Co Cavan, has announced a €5m investment as the fi rst phase of its upgrade in new technologies over the next three to four years. A subsidiary of Indorama Ventures
plc, Wellman International is Europe’s largest producer of high quality polyester staple fi bres, made primarily from post-consumer recycled PET material for various end uses. The facility employs 260 people on site. The investment will see the operation
transformed from a commodity non- woven provider to a hygiene and technically focused supply base aligned to the established markets for personal care. “Following an in-depth strategic
review with our parent company, we are very pleased to be making this investment announcement on our 40th anniversary, which will enable us to manufacture a higher value product portfolio and maintain our current level of employment on site,” said managing director Frank Gleeson. IDA Ireland CEO Barry O’Leary
added: “A key focus for IDA in regional locations is to ensure that our client companies retain the employment levels they currently have and help identify new areas of growth or opportunity for expansion and investment. Wellman have been an excellent employer for 40 years in Cavan, and this investment demonstrates the company’s commitment to Ireland in the long term.”
