Tag-Z gets set for Europe expansion
Gavin Zembrzuski, 23, director of Tag-Z, the
manufacturing subsidiary of ORO2U, concentrated mainly on displaying workshop tools at EXPO. Tag-Z’s other ranges include trailers, ramps and benches, and the business also undertakes sand-blasting and powder-coating. Zembrzuski already has a distributor in Italy but said further expansion into Europe is his main goal for 2013.
WK race bike fever
Displaying a MiniTwin 650 race bike at EXPO rather than their TT racer, which is under construction, WK Bikes revealed that several WK dealers are also now preparing WK race bikes for SuperTwin and Thundersport racing on UK mainland circuits. WK race fever is spreading.
WK general manager Henry Maplethorpe (right) said that PCR Development’s rider would be 18-year-old Tom Neave, and that BDS Motorcycles in Newcastle is preparing a bike to contest a Scottish road race series. Hampshire Motorcycles is preparing the TT bike. The ultimate goal is to have a budget one-make race series for WK twins, and Maplethorpe thinks it could happen next year. Pioneering the road racing debut of Chinese bikes in the UK, WK was the first to import a Chinese big bike (June 2012) and so far 35 examples of the CF Moto- made twin (£4199 retail) have been road registered. WK sales in 2011 totalled 200, and last year 800. For
2013 projected sales are 1200-1500. Best seller is the 125 Sport motorcycle – 200 units were registered last year. Eight new dealers have been appointed in recent months, bringing the network for this new marque up to 42 dealers. “We still have areas to fill,” said Maplethorpe. The 2013 range comprises 12 scooters and eight

motorcycles. Additions later this year may include an enduro 450 and 800cc cruiser. Maplethorpe predicts increasing sales for the 250cc sector in general.
FOWLERS of Bristol announced at EXPO that its clothing wing, The Key Collection, had rescued Buffalo motorcycle clothing.
The takeover
deal includes Duchinni motorcycle helmets and Blytz boots. All stock has been transferred to The Key Collection’s modern warehouse. Fowlers MD Lionel Fowler said existing Buffalo dealers can count on continuity of supply and aftersales care. The Key Collection’s portfolio includes Gear Gremlin accessories, launched at EXPO 2012. See EXPO interviews in this issue for update report on Gear Gremlin.
A star attraction at EXPO was this monolithic 48-cylinder 4.2-litre Kawasaki special, made up from 250cc Kawasaki KH two-stroke triple engines by specials builder Simon Whitelock. It graced the Remit stand and was under the watchful eye of Mark Gauld, who oversees apprentice mechanic training for Remit.

LS2 general manager John McQueen with the Dakar-winning MX456 helmet.
At EXPO, helmet brand LS2 received news worth celebrating from the Dakar Rally. Of the 196 motorcycle racers who set off on the 8000km race from Peru’s capital city Lima to Santiago, Chile, 65 were wearing the LS2 MX456 helmet. At the fi nish line, however, the number of MX456 wearers had increased to 76! Riders switching to LS2 during the event. Both the fi rst and second placed riders wore an LS2 lid (Cyril Despres and Ruben Faria respectively), and winner of the Quad category Marcos Patronelli also chose the MX456.
Rob Collins and sponsored BSB rider Chris Walker on the Painseal Europe stand.
Making his EXPO debut was Rob Collins, director of Paintseal Europe based in Slough, Berkshire, supplier of ceramic paint protection. Suzuki cars and the Williams F1 team are among those using his G-3 glasscoat protection, he reported, and he now wants to further penetrate the bike world. His stand featured a Kawasaki from the Chris Walker race school based at Mallory Park. Collins has already obtained licences to promote at the Isle of Man TT and British SuperBike races. He sponsors Walker in BSB.

a new POS stand for its Muc-Off range of bike cleaners. Featuring illuminated header and shelves, the new stand has a modular design enabling it to hold more product for more dealer profit per square foot. Another innovation from Muc-Off is a 25-litre refill station where customers can help save the planet by refilling their empty Muc-Off bottles while the dealer benefits from repeat customer footfall and a better profit margin.
FORCEFIELD revealed at EXPO that it is re-naming its popular Strap On armour after research found that, despite a large number of Google searches for the product name, click-through rates to Forcefield’s website were low as searchers realised that flexible armour wasn’t quite what they were looking for! This is having the effect of demoting Forcefield in any search results, as Google lowers its ‘relevancy’ ranking for the firm’s website.
