Launchpad Battle of the giants
Ping is shaking things up for 2013. Out goes the traditional August launch for the G series, with the new G25 range set for retail delivery next month, and going head to head against the latest off ering from TaylorMade
Reaching new G force
Ping has brought adjustability to a G series driver for the first time. G25 is due at retail in mid- February, led by a driver with Trajectory Tuning Technology, which enables golfers to add or subtract 0.5° of loft via an adjustable hosel. The driver is supported by new G25 fairway woods and hybrids with low profile clubheads, while Ping promises high launch and greater forgiveness with its sleek G25 irons.
“The G25 driver offers meaningful adjustability to help all golfers optimise their trajectories without sacrificing the performance that’s often lost in bulkier hosel designs,” says John A. Solheim, Ping chairman and chief executive.
Ping tour pros Bubba Watson and Hunter Mahan already have the G25 driver and fairways in their bags.

Rocket
As TaylorMade seeks to capitalise on the huge
success of its R11 drivers in 2012, the R1 is due at retail from February 1. The R1 offers the greatest range of adjustability
TaylorMade has ever produced, with 168 possible settings.
“Our research indicates that 80% of golfers are playing the wrong loft”
Dr. Benoit Vincent, TaylorMade
“Offering a wide range of loft settings is imperative, because
our research indicates that 80% of golfers are playing the wrong loft, which costs them distance,” says Dr. Benoit Vincent, chief technical officer at
TaylorMade. “The R1 offers 12 positions to help golfers find the loft that delivers the
launch conditions that deliver maximum distance.”
TaylorMade promises its Rocketballz Stage 2 Fairway woods and
Rescue clubs will provide greater
distance then their first-generation predecessors, while ‘speed pocket’
slots in the soles of the RocketBladez irons should boost trajectory.
