In recent years, we have attracted a few “full scale” aircraft to our event. This year Mike Weltyk (Oxford, MI) flew in on Satur- day with his newly repainted Maule Rocket. The power of this aircraft is impressive—ca-


pable of short takeoff and landing (STOL). On Sunday, Walt Plentis flew in with his full-size J-3 Cub and his typical one float landing to spend some time with us. Walt again offered a ride to a lucky attendee at the conclusion of our event. Joe Rubinstein (Lake Orion, MI) won the honor this year. The event is primarily “fly for fun”; how- ever, there were two optional judged compe-


tition categories, with the intent to attract more unique models. The competition cate- gories were Sport and Scale. Each category was competing for a Spektrum DX6I radio system! These are not rulebook scale events, but do include both static and flight judging. Skymasters’ member, Joe Rubinstein, did the judging honors.
