Dream
A most unusual model that will certainly turn heads at any float-fly and is a dream to fly!

irst time I saw a video showing this plane I wanted to build it right away. I thought this was the cutest plane ever, something that could have been designed by Disney for a cartoon movie. I searched the Internet to find some three-views and the other information about this plane. After long search, I found a mod- eler in Germany, Lutz Nakel, who had a 3- view but nothing else about the real plane. Beside finding the three-view I also found the logo that was on the rudder of the full size plane. It was Dewey Eldred Flying Service Inc. located at the Lost Nation air- port in Willoughby, Ohio. I found one addi- tional bit of information in the Lake Erie College magazine in 2011, Fall issue. In the short article it states that Mr. Eldred was
considered the safest flyer in the whole na- tion in 1940. He was in charge of a flying program at this airport. In 1939 he even set the distance record of 898 miles in a Taylor- craft powered by a 50 horsepower Lycoming engine during a long flight south to Day- tona, Florida.
I am disappointed that I could not find any
other information about the full-size plane. I am sure it would be a fascinating story how and what prompted Mr. Eldred to come up with something that to me looks like a cross between a car and a twin canoe with each having a rooster tail. Only thing that gave it away as a plane was its wing. Even the grill on the front of the cowl looked like it came from a 1950s car. All these oddities on this plane made me want to build it even more.
