Flyer’s Dream

Remaining wing panels are now being glued to the main spar (above left). With main wing construction finished (above right), the wing is now ready to be

brace. Use the angle guide to glue this rib on a proper angle.

Sand the trailing edge of the bottom sheet on an angle so it follows the contour of the ribs. Using slow drying glue, glue on the top skin. Cut out the aileron. To the wing, glue the trailing edge spar and the tip sheet. In- side the aileron, glue in the plywood plate to hold the horn. Glue on the aileron leading edge and the tip ribs. Glue on the wing tip block. Sand the wing panel. Build the other side wing panel the same way.

Next to build is the middle section that slopes down. Glue the ribs W3, 4, 5 and 6 to the skin and the ribs. Again, use the angle

guide for ribs W3 and W6. Between ribs W5 and W6 glue the 1⁄4 × 1⁄8-inch spruce support piece. Glue the leading edge to the ribs and bottom sheet. Sand in the appropriate cam- ber and glue on the top skin. Sand that part of the wing. Feed the servo cable wires through the holes in the ribs W10 to W7. No- tice the small hole in F10. Once the wires are in, this hole will be sealed so the water, that could splash onto the aileron servo, does not enter the wing.

Smear some glue onto the dihedral brace and the ribs W6 and W7. Slide the dihedral brace into the middle section of the wing un- til the ribs are touching. Let the glue dry.

Build the other side of the wing to the same stage. To the bottom sheeting of the center section, glue the ribs W1 and W2 and the spars. Again, the ribs W2 need to be glued in on an angle. Do not glue the top sheeting un- til the cabin is ready to be glued. Feed the ailerons and rudder servo cable wires through the W2 rib. Smear glue onto the dihedral brace and the ribs W2 and W3. Slide the dihedral brace in until the ribs W2 and W3 are touching. Make sure that the left half of the wing is at the same angle of incidence as the right half. The cockpit/cabin: Cut out all the form- ers. Place the former F2 on top of F3 and
