Events: The Star HRD Expo 2011 ends on a positive note and great industry support
he Star HRD Expo ran over 3 days during October 2011at the Sandton Convention Centre and ended on a positive note from both the exhibitor and visitor side. The event hosted over 90 exhibitors from human resources, education and training industries while also hosting some top BEE solutions providers, wellness companies and overall business solutions experts. The expo offered the industry the latest insights, solutions, technologies and services and many new value ads.

The exhibition saw about 2 000 visitors come through the door and here is what some of the exhibitors had to say. “CareerWeb has been an exhibitor at The Star HR Expo for the last 2 years and has found the audience to be targeted. with were spot on, good leads, great networking opportunities and the professionalism of the IIR Staff at the event throughout the duration of the expo.” The event also received some great association & media support. “Thank you very much for the well organised event. We were able to personally meet and welcome many new members!” Sandra Erasmus, Executive Administrative Assistant / Company Secretary, SABPP. Alan de Sousa Caires Director for the Management Today Magazine commented, “The Star HRD Expo is one of the premier events on our calendar each year, it’s an amazing opportunity to meet new customers as well as show existing customers what we are working on for the future.” Exhibition visitors had a chance to attend a Speakers Corner that showcased a variety of speakers. IIR SA, the organizers of the show ran an initiative where every 7th visitor received a wellness or a lifestyle voucher just by going through the door. There were also prize give-aways and the HRDE iPad winner was Mr Herman Visser, HR Officer from Murray & Roberts Cementation. IIR’s 8th Annual HR Africa conference that ran alongside The Star HRD Expo brought in a good mix of African delegates, from across the continent. The delegates enjoyed networking over the 4 days and the extra perks the expo had to offer in terms of solutions. “I looked forward to interacting & sharing with the rest of Africa and Beyond, and I did!” stated Naomi Mureithi, HR Officer from Kenya Power. Raphael Paradzay Group HR Executive from Premier Services Medical Aid Society, Zimbabwe said, “I liked the idea of combining the conference with The Star HRD Expo”.
“The Star HRD Expo is looking at growing in the years to come and encompassing new areas of industry interests. While we have main players’ support we also look to include new exhibitors and visitors each year and the new entrants looking to break into the markets of HR, education or training.
