READER REPORTS
A real treat for foodie fans VENUE: IVY RESTAURANT
On Thursday the 14th October Advantage Business Travel hosted an event at the oh-so exclusive Ivy Restaurant in London. A select 50 Executive PA Magazine readers joined us for an indulgent dinner with the quality service one would imagine of such a famous celeb hotspot. Once we had all taken in our surroundings and finished gossiping about who was downstairs in the main bar and who was outside signing autographs, we finished up our wine and took to our seats, raring to get sampling the food.
And so to the most anticipated part of the
evening: The Ivy is known for its down-to- earth yet outstanding food and our evening was no exception. The menu opened with a courgette, fennel and prawn salad and for the main course we were treated to a delicious beef wellington with all the trimmings. Dessert was a passion fruit panna cotta topped off with teas, coffees and petits fours – which my table enjoyed so much that we polished off an extra tray! It was then time to hear a few words from
Ken McCleod, who some of our readers may recall presented the Boss of the Year award at our 2010 awards ceremony. Ken explained a bit about Advantage Business Travel and advised that planning travel is not, as the inter- net would have us believe, all web-based book- ings. His message was simple – when it comes to getting the best business travel (and usually the best price) book your business travel by talking to real people. Along with the Advantage team we were also joined by Etihad’s Stephen Nash, who gave us a brief history of the Abu Dhabi airline. He highlighted its ever-expanding route list
and constant focus on luxury and how to prop- erly treat their guests. Stephen’s attendance was made even more welcome thanks to a prize-draw for two tickets to see the Harlequins Rugby team. The evening continued with wine and con-
versation until at last we had to pull ourselves away and back into the realms of ‘normal peo- ple’. It was a fantastic evening hosted by the Advantage Business Travel team, Etihad and Executive PA Magazine and one which drew many claims from attendees that it was “the best PA event they’d ever attended”. Sporting giant hosts readers VENUE: WEST HAM FC
Football fans and non-football fans alike were thrilled to join Executive PA Magazine at the reader event held at West Ham Football Club on 16th September. Not only is the Upton Park ground home to
great football it’s also home to some first class conferencing and meeting space. Upon arrival Executive PA Magazine readers were greeted with drinks and a selection of delicious canapés in the Legends Bar. Proving their first rate organisational skills the events team at West Ham had prepared handy packs for everyone in attendance detailing each of the rooms avail- able, their capacities and their facilities. The Legends Bar is just one of the spaces available for hire and next PAs were invited to a
tour of the venue – taking in a variety of meeting rooms, conference rooms, bedrooms and private spaces overlooking the pitch. Readers were delighted to explore the space and pleasantly surprised by what was on offer, with several indicating their interest in organising a special event here. Luckily many had bought cameras with them and were able to snap away through- out the evening capturing the home of many football greats as a memento of the evening. After the tours were completed there was time to enjoy a final drink or nibble on a canapé while mingling with other guests. One thing everyone was in agreement with was what a versatile venue West Ham Football Club is and one that more than a few PAs vowed to further explore. Further information:
