16 » www.executivepa.com » Oct/Nov 2010 Despite being quite new to the PA profession, Amie

has a great deal of responsibility and how she deals with this is what impressed the judges the most. In her role Amie looks after no less than seven directors, most of whom she has to communicate with remotely. She has been with commercial catering company CH&Co for just over 18 months as a senior team administrator. In her previous role she was with a small quantity surveying firm and now works for a large organisation with over 2,000 staff. She says: “To have been short-listed for the Newcomer of the Year Award was an achievement in itself but to win was beyond my expectations and some- thing I am extremely proud of. It is wonderful to receive such recognition not only from my manager Rebecca Simpson who nominated me, but also from the judging panel who have a wealth of experience in the field.”

Executive PA Magazine: PA of the Year The final award of the night, The Executive PA Magazine: PA of the Year award also saw some first class candidates and of course commanded an amazing prize. Jessica Doorbar, of PricewaterhouseCoopers and last year’s winner, presented this award after relating in a short speech how much winning last year meant to her. There were six finalists in this category that were inter- viewed for a final round of judging on the afternoon of the awards. These included Hannah Yelland from Barclays, Amy Tulloch from the BBC and Natalie Chappell from Imexpart. But the judges’ final decision saw Dawn Carey of National Friendly take the top prize with Kim Tuchscherer from the Aviator Hotel and Emma Gent from NCFE as worthy runners-up.
