Where Copic Markers Came From Copic Markers were developed over 25 years ago in Japan by the Too Corporation. They were originally created for fine art and design, and then the Japanese comic industry (Manga & Anime) began using Copic products. Copic Markers are popular for fashion design, architecture, product design, comic illustration, storyboarding, and automotive design.
About 10 years ago, Imagination Internat ional , Inc. began importing Copic Markers into North America. At that time the main audience was teenagers who loved to draw Manga (Japanese Copic Illustration). Copic Markers were also an early hit with altered artists. Slowly their popularity grew among Fine Art schools and Universities across the United States and Canada.
A few years ago, papercrafters around the world discovered this alcohol based marker, and fell in love. Since then, Copic has been working hard to educate papercrafters in the many uses of these high-quality products. Imagination International, Inc. was initiated by educators and students, making education for Copic products a high priority throughout the company.

What Makes Copic Markers Special? Copic Markers are the first marker created entirely with the designer in mind. The ink formula and colors have not changed since they were designed over 25 years ago. Some artists in Japan have not purchased new markers, since their first markers purchased over 25 years ago. The body markings are embossed onto the pen, so they will not rub off. Copic Markers are environmentally friendly – you never throw them away. Just keep refilling them, and replacing the tips. Markers can be airbrushed onto almost any surface, and are easily blendable.
No other marker or indo comes in 334 colors. No other company guarantees a three year shelf life, meaning that if your markers go unused with the cap on, they will not dry up. The Super Brush nib found on Sketch and Ciao markers is very sturdy and will never fray. If a nib breaks, it can easily be replaced. Even if the cap is left off, the marker can still be refurbished.
In addition to all of these features, Copic
Markers are fun to use. Scientists have proven that coloring, and drawing, promotes stress relief and stimulates brain activity, particularly in the elderly. People can easily spend hours coloring with Copic Markers once they learn how to avoid early frustrations.
