42 GROUND & CONCRETE WORK

Watertight concrete system Triton’s TT Super Admix was used to produce 900m³ of watertight concrete for the construction of the basement at the new DMC Building at Goldsmiths, University of London. The TT Super Admix was added to the concrete during the batching process at a rate of 4.1kg/m³ The mix design was a 20% PFA blend, minimum cement content 350kg/m³, with a maximum water: cement ratio of 0.5 and an S3 workability (130mm slump). Active chemicals react with fresh concrete to generate a non-soluble crystalline formation which seals the concrete itself against the penetration of water or liquid,

continuous passive system applied to the full footprint of new builds. Radon Barriercoat is a seamless, liquid applied membrane that forms a barrier to radon, methane, carbon dioxide & acts as a DPM. Sovereign Radon Barriercoat is the only BBA Approved liquid applied radon membrane. As the system is seamless obtaining a gas tight seal is simpler than taped joints in sheet membranes. Complies with the requirements C1 (2) & C2 (a) of the Building Regs 2000 in that Sovereign Radon Barriercoat will satisfy the requirement for both damp proofing & radon protection. Helping contractors through piling

issues Hanson UK has launched a new CFA piling concrete to help contractors overcome the issues related to sinking cages into bored concrete piles in difficult ground conditions. Easypile developed in conjunction with admixture suppliers Sika, increases the speed of piling by reducing the number of cage failures in dry and dense ground conditions prone to drawing moisture from the concrete piles. James Moorhouse, Hanson’s national commercial manager said “Easypile is the result of over 12 months development.” Click here to request literature
