about walking into a motorcycle dealership. It’s not just the bikes (though HEY LOOK AT THAT! THE NEW RT IS IN!), it’s not just the people (nice to see you again – have some coffee!), and it’s not just the gear (can you have too many pairs of gloves?). It’s all those things, sure, but it’s more. It’s knowing you’re in a space where your obsession is so completely and thoroughly under- stood that you don’t ever have to wonder if they know that you get it. They get it too. Imagine, then, that instead of


walking into the average motorcycle dealership, you’ve walked into the West Building of the Orange County


Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. There’s 888,000 square feet of exhibition space, and other than the little pathways between the blocks of booths, every square foot of it is filled with motorcycles, parts, accessories, gear – and people. The third year of the American Interna-


tional Motorcycle Expo – or AIMExpo – was another unqualified success and many attendees are already making plans to attend in 2016. Next year, the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) will be in charge, having recently purchased the expo from its previous owners, and many in the industry have high expectations for where MIC will take the AIMExpo in the coming years. The AIMExpo ran from Thursday


through Sunday, 15-18 October, and in that time, nearly 19,000 people from 55


countries walked the floor. Nearly 300 of them were journalists, photographers and other media workers – yours truly included; almost 4,000 were industry employees. The other 11,000 or so were consumers attracted to what is being touted as the largest motor- cycle trade show in the United States. According to a press release from the AIM- Expo organizers, the collected attendees made almost 23 million individual posts via social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram primarily).
