Mergers & Acquisitions Newcomb Spring Corp. (Deca-
tur, GA), a leading supplier of custom springs and metal forms, on Jan. 6 announced that it has completed the purchase of Pelham Precision Spring Co., which was located in Greer, SC. Existing orders and cus- tomers will now be served by New- comb Spring’s North Carolina facility. Newcomb Spring of North Carolina will also absorb Pelham Precision Spring’s equipment, tooling and technologies. Newcomb Spring is comprised of nine facilities located in the United States and Canada. As one of the country’s largest spring and metal forming companies, Newcomb Spring’s diverse manufacturing, quality control and secondary capabilities expand the services available to Pelham Precision Spring customers. ABB (Tokyo) and Hitachi (Zurich) in late 2014 announced an agree- ment to form a joint venture for high voltage direct current (HVDC) system solutions in Japan. The new entity, to be based in Tokyo, will be responsible for the design, engineering, supply and after-sales services related to the DC system of HVDC projects, bringing ABB’s latest technologies to the Japanese market where Hitachi will be the prime contractor.
